Ranbir Kapoor is an Indian film actor, who appeared in Hindi language movies of Bollywood. He was born on 28 September 1982 in Mumbai, India to 'Rishi Kapoor' and 'Neetu Singh'. He is the grand son of director-actor Raj Kapoor and great grand son of 'Prithviraj Kapoor'. His elder sister, 'Riddhima Kapoor' is a Fashion and Interior Designer. Ranbir studied at 'Bombay Scottish School' in Mahim. As per an interview, Ranbir was a naughty kid, he was not a bright student as his mother used to cry three times a year, when his report cards used to come. Ranbir never had a friendly relationship with his father but he was much closer to his mother. He started his directorial debut in 1999 with the movie 'Aa Ab Laut Chalen'. Later he enrolled at 'H.R. College of Commerce and Economics' in Mumbai. After his graduation he moved to New York at 'Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute' and there he started living alone for the first time and understand the value of money and family. He began his career in films as an assistant director for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film 'Black' in 2005. He made his acting debut in the movie 'Saawariya' in 2007. Ranbir won Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut, for this movie. He earned widespread recognition in year 2009 for his performances in the movies – Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani, Wake Up Sid and Rocket Singh- Salesman of the year. All these performances jointly earned him the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor. In 2011, for his movie 'Rockstar' he won Best Actor Award at Filmfare. Ranbir has established himself as a leading contemporary actor in Bollywood Cinema. His off-screen life has also received widespread media coverage in India. In 2008, he began dating Deepika Padukone but after their high profile break up in 2009, he decided to keep his personal life away from the attention of media. Currently, Ranbir Kapoor is staying with his parents in Pali Hill in Mumbai.
