Jothika: About

Jothika is a talented Tamil actress who was active in showbiz for nearly a decade. Her 1998 debut film, a love story entitled “Doli Saja Ke Rakhna” is a hit and opened doors for her in the film industry. She had movies that are box office hits one after the other. Her movie “Mugavari” in 2000 is a high grosser in the box office. Her other hit movie in 2000, “Khushi” earned her a Filmfare Best Actress Award. In 2001 her movie “Thenali” also became a hit. Jothika role in the 2004 film “Perazhagan” earned her another award, the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actress. In 2005, her role as Ganga who has a split personality earned her the same award for the movie “Chandramukhi”. The film turned out to be one of the biggest blockbusters that the Tamil cinema had ever seen. She continued doing hit movies until 2007, when she retired from acting to concentrate on her husband, Tamil top star Surya whom she has worked with a couple of times, and their daughter Diya.
