Tata has finally launched the much-awaited Harrier in India with a starting price tag of INR 12.69 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV will rival Mahindra XUV500, Jeep Compass and Hyundai Creta in India. All four of them have different purpose of existence as XUV500 is preferred by buyers who need seven seats while Creta balances the comfort for five and mileage proportion. Jeep Compass is known for extensive power output and iconic front design while Harrier find a balance between all three options. Jeep Compass starts at INR 16.60 lakh for the base diesel variant, bringing steel wheels with the package. On the other hand, XUV500 starts from just INR 12.65 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The huge size and feature loaded approach makes the same a tough competitor to the new Harrier. The Creta offers compact footprint and starts at INR 13.34 lakh. The 1.6L engine is also the smallest among all SUVs, bringing 128 PS of maximum power and 260 Nm of torque. Tata Harrier is available in four variants named XE, XM, XT and XZ while Creta can be had in S, SX, SX+ and SX(O) variant. XUV500 can be bought in W5, W7, W9, W11 and W11(O) variant. Tata Harrier is the longest and widest car among these four while XUV brings the maximum height.
