Shruti Haasan is an Indian actress, singer and music composer who appear in South Indian and Hindi Bollywood films. She was born on born January 28, 1986 in Tamilnadu, India. Her parents also belong to film industry. Her father Kamal Hassan is a noted actor and her mother Sarika is also a known actress. She appeared in small guest roles in several films as a child artist before debuting in 2009 with the film Luck. She studied psychology at St. Andrew's collage, Mumbai. She moved to USA to learn music from Musicians Institute in California. She was very found of singing as she started at the early age of 6years. Her first song was “Potri Paadadi Penne”for her fathers film Thevar Magan and composed by Ilaiyaraaja. After that she performed in various films including Chachi 420, Hey Ram, En Mana Vaanil, Vaaranam Aayiram etc. Shruti debuted in Bollywood with Luck directed by Soham Shah and opposing Imran Khan in July 2008. She also composed the title track for this movie and has a double role in the action flick. Her role in Walt Disney's fantasy films Anaganaga O Dheerudu, Oh my friend and 7aum Arivu won critical acclaim. She also won Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut-South for movies Anaganaga O Dheerudu and 7aum Arivu released in the year 2011. Recently she has acted in Prabhu Deva's Ramaiya Vastavaiy and Nikhil Advani's D-Day. She is also the vocalist of and alternative rock band The Exteramentals.
