Yamaha YZF-R3 vs. 2017 KTM RC 390 vs. Kawasaki Ninja 300

Indian Automobile market is growing at such a pace that youngsters are these days getting loads of options under a strict price tag. Before they jump into the world of superbikes after driving the everyday 150-250 cc bikes, a niche segment falls within the price tag of INR 2.25-3.75 lakh. Yes, the KTM RC390, Yamaha R3 and Kawasaki Ninja 300 are the only three participants of the same group, providing young riders with limited power and excellent learning opportunities to enter perfectly to the big bike world.

Yamaha R3 was the most recent entry into this typical segment, carrying a powerful 321 cc, twin cylinder engine that is good for 41.4 BHP at 10750 rpm and 29.6 Nm at 9000 rpm. It comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox and claims a top speed of 188 kmph. This makes it the fastest among all three in terms of top speed. It uses 298 mm and 220 mm disc brakes for both front and rear wheel respectively.

KTM RC390 is a totally different story as it undercuts the rivals by a huge margin of INR 1 lakh. The motorcycle offers the largest, most powerful engine out of all, producing 43.5 BHP and 36 Nm of torque. The engine here is single cylinder unit while the first in class features include USD forks, dual channel ABS and 320 mm of large disc brake.

Kawasaki Ninja 300, on the other hand, is one of the most familiar motorcycle in its segment. It comes with 296 cc, twin cylinder engine that is good for 38.5 BHP at 11000 rpm and 27 Nm at 10000 rpm. It is slowest to the ton by nearly 1 second from the KTM racer. It carries a large 17 liter fuel tank and weighs three kilograms more the the lightest R3 (169 kg). It serves as the most expensive bike with INR 3.65 lakh of price tag.
