Indian motorcycle market recently saw an increase in the sales of 150cc motorcycles. The improvement in road conditions, availability of easy credit and awareness has pushed a prospective buyer into one segment higher than before.
The 150cc segment even covers the motorcycles that are 160cc in displacement as they return better power values with negligible drop in mileage. Here are the best five options to consider in this segment.
TVS Apache RTR 160 is the most effective motorcycle in this segment. It comes with an option of single and dual disc brakes. The 162.7cc, single cylinder engine is good for 15.2 BHP and 13.1 Nm of torque.
The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox while Apache RTR 160 claims a top speed of 118 kmph. The closest motorcycle to the RTR 160 is Bajaj Pulsar 150, carrying a price tag of INR 74,600 and claiming 115 kmph of top speed.
Apart from these two, the other three on the list are Suzuki Gixxer, Yamaha FZ-S and Honda CB Hornet 160R. The 154.9 cc, single cylinder engine on the Gixxer 155 is good for 14.6 BHP and 14 Nm of torque. It weighs just 135 kg and comes with an option of single as well as double disc.
Yamaha FZS V2.0 Fi is the only motorcycle to carry fuel injection and comes with just single disc brake option. The 149cc engine is good for 12.9 BHP and 12.8 Nm of torque.
Honda CB Hornet 160R carries a 162.7cc, single cylinder engine producing 15.04 BHP and 14.76 Nm of torque. It claims a top speed of 110 kmph while the option of dual disc brake with CBS makes it even more interesting.
It even claims the highest price tag of all around its price segment. These 3 naked street fighters are the highest demanded and only available examples of their type. Pulsar and Apache are even the best sellers of their respective brands.
We skipped the Hero Hunk and Xtreme Sports from this list as both these bikes are not selling in good numbers now and Hero must introduce a mojor upgrade or an all-new product to compete with Pulsar 150, Apache 160, Gixxer 155, Hornet 160R, and FZS V2 Fi.
