Yamaha FZ25 was recently launched at INR 1,19,500 (ex-showroom Delhi), the post-GST price is INR 1,19,300. The motorcycle is a strict competitor to the Italian street fighter, Benelli TNT25 as both of them use the same sized engine. TNT25 comes with a 4-valve, single cylinder engine that is liquid cooled and fuel injected, producing 28.16 BHP at 9800 rpm and 21.61 Nm at 8000 rpm. It comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox and claims a top speed of 145 kmph. The engine revs to a much higher power band, providing the rider with scope of speedy sprints and race spec performance. It even uses USD forks for better control and drive quality at higher speeds.
FZ25, on the other hand is good for 20.69 BHP at 8,000 rpm and 20 Nm at 6000 rpm. The engine is 2-valve, single cylinder unit that comes paired to a 5-speed gearbox. It provides power at a lower level and helps the rider drive with ample torque at lesser throttle. It even weighs just 148 kg, making it 11 kg lighter than the rival. Yamaha has given the provision of full LED headlamp on the motorcycle while the price difference is even around INR 65,000. FZ25 undoubtedly comes out as the most affordable yet highly effective option for a quarter liter street bike in India. It even enjoys widespread service network of Yamaha Motors in India.
