Indian motorcycle industry witnessed a lot of changes in the last decade. The concept of gear-less scooters and bigger capacity bikes were the stars of this crucial time.

Many buyers are opting for scooters instead of commuter 100-125 cc motorcycles while the easy availability of loans and improvement in pay scale have made the dreams of riders for 150-250cc come true in the present age.

The soft point for the entry level performance motorcycles is 200cc, providing the comfort and economy of a 150cc motorcycle while chasing and even beating the performance of 250cc motorcycles.

Here are the 5 options in 200cc segment if you planning to buy a new 200cc bike in India:

1) TVS Apache RTR 200

The most affordable on the Indian charts, TVS Apache RTR 200 is powered by 197.75 cc, oil cooled engine producing 20.23 BHP and 18.1 Nm of torque. It weighs 148 kg and claims a 0-60 kmph time of 3.95 seconds, being the only one on the list using a 5-speed gearbox. It is available in various variants with fuel injection, ABS and Pirelli tyres as an option. It starts at INR 88,990.

2) Bajaj Pulsar AS200

This Adventure Sport Pulsar is packed with the same engine as all the remaining options on the list. The 199.5 cc, liquid cooled, carburetor fed unit on the bike is good for 23.17 BHP and 18.3 Nm of torque. This makes the Pulsar one of the most affordable motorcycle with KTM engine under its frame. It is priced at INR 94,000. Though NS200 is more popular among the Pulsar fans in India but Bajaj halted the production and sale of NS200 to make way for the AS200.

3) Bajaj Pulsar RS200

Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 is the fastest Pulsar till date with a 199.5 cc, liquid cooled and fuel injected engine producing 24.2 BHP and 18.6 Nm of torque. It comes with an option between ABS and non ABS version while unlike dual channel on the TVS Apache, the RS200 gets single channel ABS only. It is priced at INR 1,20,500 for the non ABS and INR 1,32,500 for the ABS version. It comes with dual projector headlights and a LED taillight.

4) KTM 200 Duke

KTM India's most affordable offering, the 200 Duke carries all the premium parts from the bigger Duke while comes with a 199.5cc engine producing 24.6 BHP and 19.2 Nm of torque. It is lightweight and claims a 9.30 second 0-100 kmph sprint. It uses USD forks and comes with a price tag of INR 1,43,000.

5) KTM RC 200

The most expensive 200cc Indian motorcycle is KTM RC 200. Carrying a price tag of INR 1,69,000 and identical body design to RC 390, the KTM RC 200 uses the same engine as 200 Duke and produces exactly the same amount of power values. The motorcycle is highly aerodynamically efficient and brings track racing to the roads with its aggressive riding posture.
