Kawasaki Ninja 650: Old Model vs. New Model

The Kawasaki Ninja 650 has been known to be the best weight middle weight super bike amongst the competition. As the Ninja 650 has been well received fully loaded with features and promise of performance. But the bike was yet to receive an update since 2012. And Kawasaki does not disappoint in this front coming up with a new version. What's so different about the new Ninja 650 is that it is 18 kgs lighter than the old model. That means that the new version will have an enhanced performance and more aerodynamic support.
The Kawasaki Ninja 650 (old) is already known in the Indian market for its cool aerodynamic appeal and futuristic styling. It runs on a 4-stroke, 2-cylinder 649cc engine liquid-cooled, DOHC engine. It can generate a maximum power output of 71 bhp at 8500 rpm. Its torque production arrives at 7000 rpm which is of 64 Nm. This fuel injected engine is mated with a six-speed manual gearbox with one gear down and five gears up shift pattern. The bike makes from 0 to 100 kmph in just 7 seconds. It has a mileage of 18 kmpl (approx.).
While the Ninja 650 old weighs 211 kgs, the New Kawasaki Ninja 650 is 18 kgs lighter at 193 kgs. Both come with the same engine and 6 speed manual gearbox. The new Ninja 650 engine gives out a maximum power of 67.2 bhp @ 8000 rpm and a maximum torque of 65.7 Nm @ 6500 rpm. The sportbike was recently launched at an ex-showroom price of INR 5.33 lakhs which is about 36,000 more expensive than it's predecessor (priced at INR 4.97 lakhs). Apart from a little updates, there aren't many changes to be seen on Ninja 650. But the new model coming after 5 years is a welcome change. The new model will also come with ABS in India.
