Honda Africa Twin was recently launched in India for INR 12.90 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It is one of the limited products that falls in the CKD category and thus, helps the brand keep costs under check in India. The adventure motorcycle segment in India has limited number of players, starting right from Royal Enfield Himalayan and going up to Triumph Tiger Explorer. Honda Africa Twin is placed at a sweet spot as most high end bikes fall high enough from its price while the ones placed at its price do not have enough grunt to match its practicality.
However, the launch of Ducati Multistrada 950 at INR 11.53 lakh in the coming months can bring tough times to the Japanese manufacturer. The closest rival yet to the Africa Twin, the Multistrada 950 will carry a 937 cc engine, producing 113 HP and 96.2 Nm of torque. It will weigh just 227 kg while even more premium components will be used in its built. Indian adventure motorcycle segment will even witness more additions in the coming months as more and more bikers are indulging into the touring industry. The future of Indian superbikes seems bright this time.
