Bipasha Basu is an Indian film actress, born on 7 January, 1979 in Delhi to a Bengali family. She stayed in Delhi uptil the age of eight and then moved to Kolkata with her family. She began her modelling career at the age of 17 and won 'Godrej Cinthol Supermodel Contest' and 'Ford Model's Supermodel of the World Contest'.

Before moving on to acting, she had a successful modelling career. She made her acting debut in 2001 with movie 'Ajnabee'. She played the negative role in the film and recieved Filmfare Award for 'Best Female Debut'. She made her mark in some hit movies like 'Dhoom 2', 'Race', 'No Entry', 'Raaz 3', 'Bachna Ae Haseeno' and 'Dum Maro Dum'. Of these, 'Dhoom 2' was the most commercially successfull movie of her career, earning 23 million USD at boxoffice. In this film, she played the lead role along with Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra.

She has acted in Hindi, Telugu, Bengali, Tamil and English language films. Bipasha is known for her bold on-screen image and for some very popular item songs like 'Beedi', 'Phoonk De' and 'Namak Ishq Ka'. Other than acting, she is into fitness programmes. She has released three fitness DVD's till now, namely- 'Love Yourself', 'Break Free' and 'Unleash'. She is the brand ambassador of 'Sugar Free' and the face of 'Delhi Marathon'.
