Tata Tiago is the most happening rival to the newly launched Hyundai Santro, giving a rock solid impression with more length and power for the petrol engine buyers. The range for Tiago starts at INR 3.40 lakh while Santro claims a starting price of INR 3.90 lakh. Even the top spec model is Tiago is placed lower than Santro, offering additional alloy wheels over the Hyundai package. Tata is even planning for a flagship Tiago model with projector lights, touchscreen infotainment, and other features.
Santro is powered by a 1086cc, four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 69 HP at 5500 rpm and 99 Nm at 4500 rpm. The engine comes with an option of 5-speed manual and AMT unit. Tiago, on the other hand, is powered by a 1199cc, three-cylinder engine that is good for 85 HP at 6000 rpm and 114 Nm at 3500 rpm. Both cars are available with a 35-liter fuel tank. Santro claims 20.30 kmpl while Tiago offers 23.84 kmpl of mileage.
