Maruti Baleno RS is the newest entry into the performance spec hot hatch segment of India. It undoubtedly claims one of the best performance values available in cars of its segment, coming with a power to weight ratio of 106.3 HP/tonne. This makes it much better than any other variant of Baleno while making it closer to the performance spec Volkswagen Polo GT TSI. Maruti Baleno comes with 998 cc, 3-cylinder Boosterjet engine that is good for 101 HP at 5500 rpm and 150 Nm between 1700-4100 rpm. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

If manual is not your type, VW Polo GT TSI is offered with a 7-speed DSG and carries a bigger 1197 cc, 4-cylinder engine that is good for 105 HP at 5000 rpm and 175 Nm at 1500-4100 rpm. The engine on the VW Polo is quite more powerful than the unit on Baleno and is even a refined and tested unit in itself. The high 1109 kg weight of Polo makes it a bit slower as Baleno weighs just 950 kg in comparison. Polo is offered with better options like Hill Hold Control, ESP, cruise control and many more. Baleno RS is priced at INR 8,47,300 while Polo GT TSI can be bought for INR 9,33,000.
