Sania Mirza, born 15 November 1986, in Mumbai is an Indian tennis player, most popularly known for her powerful forehand ground strokes. She has been on the number one position since 2003 in both singles and doubles and is still maintaining the position. Sania has to her credit several notable wins over Svetlana Kuznetsova, Vera Zvonareva, Marion Bartoli, Dinara Safina and Martina Hingis who was earlier at the world’s number one position. In her High ranking career of 27 singles and 7 doubles, she has been ranked highest female tennis player ever from India and also the first Indian to win WTA tour title of any kind. In 2009 she won Australia- open mixed double and became the third Indian, male or female, to win a Grand Slam title. She won second Grand Slam title after winning 2012 French Open – Mixed Doubles event. On 12 April 2010, Sania tied wedlock with Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik.
