All You Need to Know about Yamaha R25

Yamaha unleashed the much-awaited 249cc bike ‘R25’ at 43rd Tokyo Motor Show 2013. The bike on display was a prototype and the production model is expected to go on sale by next year. It will be powered by a 249cc engine with expected max power and max torque of 35+ BHP and 28+ NM respectively.

Yamaha R25 is heavily inspired from the YZR-M1 MotoGP bike and the prototype looks production ready sans the headlight. The expected ex-showroom price of R25 is INR 2.50 lakhs and it will compete with the likes of Honda CBR250R, Kawasaki Ninja 300, Hyosung GT250R, KTM RC200 and Suzuki GSR250S.

According to the company, Yamaha R25 is an entry-level sport bike for developed markets like Japan, Europe etc. and it is a top spec performance bike for developing markets like Asia. Yamaha also released an official video featuring ‘Valentino Rossi’ driving the R25 on a test track.
