Maruti Vitara Brezza Diesel vs. Ford EcoSport Diesel

Maruti Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport are the closest rivals in compact SUV segment of India. They are actually crossovers with front wheel drive layout but high seating and taller stance makes them fall right in competition with compact SUVs like Mahindra TUV300 and Bolero.

Maruti Suzuki currently offers the Vitara Brezza with a single 1248cc diesel engine while EcoSport can be bought in both petrol as well as diesel variants. The powerful 88.8 BHP version of the diesel motor (DDiS 200) on Vitara Brezza even feels less when compared to the 98.6 BHP engine on Ford EcoSport.

Ford EcoSport benefits from the availability of six airbags in its top spec variant while Brezza offers dual airbags across all variants. Maruti Vitara Brezza is equipped with better features like projector headlights, dual tone shades, SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system and 24.3 kmpl of claimed mileage.

Ford EcoSport returns a mileage of 22.2 kmpl while both the cars run on 16 inch alloy wheels on the top spec model. The front brakes on both the models are discs while rear brakes are drum units on both cars. Vitara Brezza starts with a price tag of INR 7,26,000 while the diesel EcoSport can be bought for INR 7,83,000. Both prices are ex-showroom Delhi.
