Madhubala: About

Her real name is Mumtaz Jahan Begum Dehlavi. Madhubala is her stage name. Eversince, she has been popularly known as Madhubala. She has given successful films to Indian cinema in the 1950’s and the 1960’s. The films have acclaimed to be classic hits. She is one of the most beautiful and talented actresses of Indian cinema. Her work is even remembered today. She was much highly regarded among her contemporaries. She was born in New Delhi, India. She belonged to a conservative Muslim family and was fifth of the eleven children in her family. It was a Nawabi family from Kabul, Afghanistan. Madhubala entered the world of films at the tender age of nine. Her first film Basant did well at the box office and was a hit. She worked in several films as a child artist. Madhubala, the name means “the woman of honey”. She was given a lead role at the age of fourteen.
