Jhansi, famous for Rani Lakhsmibai, is a city of historical importance in Uttar Pradesh, lying on the bank of Pahuj River. The city is well connected by road and railway network with most cities of U.P. It is 292 km from the capital city of Lucknow. The famous hockey legend, Dhyan Chand was also from Jhansi. Raja Bir Singh Deo of Orcha, built the Jhansi Fort in 1613. There are many industries in Jhansi, notably, BHEL Jhansi, Heidelberg Cement Factory, Baidyanath Factory, Parichha Thermal Power Plant, etc. Budelkhand University, in Jhansi was set up in 1975. There are many places one can visit in Jhansi, like, Jhansi Fort, Rani Mahal, MahaLaxshmi Temple, U.P. Govt. Museum, Panchkuian Temple, Panchtantra Park and many more.
