Dev Anand was born on 26 September 1923. He was an Indian film actor, director, writer and producer known for his work in Hindi cinema. He completed his graduation in English Literature from the Government College, Lahore in British India. In 2001, The Government of India honored him with the Padma Bhushan and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2002 for his contribution to Indian cinema. In 65 years of his career he acted in 114 Hindi films out of which he played the main lead role in 104 films. He also acted in 2 English films. He died in his room at The Washington Mayfair Hotel in London at the age of 88 on 3 December 2011 of a cardiac arrest. His died after the release of his last film Charge Sheet.
