Amisha Patel is an Indian actress who primarily works in Hindi movies. She was born on June 9, 1976 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She has completed her secondary education from Cathedral and John Connon School, Mumbai and Bachelor's degree in Economics fromTufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. Amisha Patel is well trained in classical dance i.e. Bharatnatyam since her childhood when she was five years old. After completing her graduation degree she joined 'Khandwala Securities Limited' as Economic Analyst. Later on she moved towards acting and joined Satyadev Dubey's theater group. She started her acting career in Bollywood with Rakesh Roshan's directorial movie, 'Kaho Na Pyaar Hai' in 2000. She is an active activist of PETA, an organisation which works for the animals & she joined PETA in September 2004. She also became the part of United Nation Office on Drugs & Crime (UNODC) to fight against Human Trafficking in October 2007. She won the 'Filmfare Award' in the category of 'Special Performance Award' for her outstanding performance in movie, 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha' in 2002 and 'Best Female Debut' at 'Zee Cine Awards' for 'Kaho Na Pyaar Hai' in 2001.
